Chisel Rack

Tool selection

My original set of chisels are German made, hold a keen edge but were poorly manufactured. About ten years ago I hand ground the sides to give then a more tapered profile. It was a lot of work but came out respectable and have so much history I’ll probably asked to be buried with them at this point.

I never came up with a good place to store them and was even less satisfied with their accessibility. I made one attempt at a chisel stand that were pockets (sleeves) made in clam shell fashion. Think of a large block of wood, knife rack style. It was tipsy and  excelled at adding small specs of rust to the honed edge due to the blades being completely enclosed. It was maple and after a year of so it made a nice addition to my fire place.
